Research Engineer (Member of Technical Staff)
You will turn hard questions about clinics, patients, operations, and AI into experiments, prototypes, and recommendations that can enter the product. The role combines applied research, data analysis, model evaluation, and product judgment.
What you'll do
- Define research questions for clinical, operational, and AI workflows.
- Build experiments, evaluations, and prototypes for new product capabilities.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and turn observations into clear recommendations.
- Work with engineers to integrate evaluations, guardrails, and measurements into the product.
- Document hypotheses, results, limits, and risks in a format that supports decisions.
What we look for
- Experience in applied research, data science, ML evaluation, HCI, operations research, or a related field.
- Ability to design rigorous experiments without freezing product work in theory.
- Comfort with Python, SQL, or similar analysis tools.
- Critical thinking, clear writing, and attention to bias, privacy, and data limits.
- Interest in B2B products where research has to land in real workflows.
Plus if
- Experience with LLM evaluation, RAG, classification, speech/audio, or multi-agent systems.
- Experience in healthcare, compliance, operational SaaS, or products for non-technical teams.
- Publications, strong internal reports, or prototypes that influenced product decisions.
What we offer
- Complex problems where research can change product direction.
- Direct collaboration with founders, product, and engineering.
- Freedom to combine academic methods with startup pragmatism.
- A culture where clarity and intellectual honesty matter more than polished slides.
